In August 1961, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SE was introduced. It matched the 220 Sb and SEb in appearance, but offered more advanced technology as standard. In addition to a four-speed automatic transmission with newly developed power steering, it also offered air suspension. The big six-cylinder not only received its own W112 code, but also dual disc brakes on all wheels. The three-litre engine was based on the 300d W189, but received an alloy block with press-fit cylinder liners. As a result, its weight dropped by a considerable 40 kg. Fuel injection was handled by a Bosch two-piston pump. Initially the maximum power output was 118 kW (160 hp). The bodywork was virtually identical to that of the 220 SEb, but had even more chrome, such as the strip from the front to rear lights, the wide bar under the doors, and the fender trims shone similarly. The decorative element on the C-pillars had the 300 SE logos integrated into it. Owners who didn't want to make a blatant statement of their distinctiveness could safely forgo these decorations.
The Mercedes-Benz W112 is a luxury automobile produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1961 to 1967. Marketed as the 300SE, it was available as a coupé, convertible, sedan, and stretched sedan (Lang), all generally similar in appearance to the corresponding Mercedes-Benz W111.
These high-end cars were fitted with the 3.0 litre fuel-injected M189 big-block six-cylinder engine, at the time of the model's introduction the company's largest. They were finished with a higher level of wood and leather trim than the W111, and had standard luxury features such as power steering, automatic transmission, and pneumatic self-levelling suspension.
The car cost almost twice the price of the top-range W111 220SE.
With no equal or superior in the Mercedes line, the coupe and cabriolet W112s enjoyed a somewhat elevated status through their model runs. Their more modern and elegant Paul Bracq designed coupe/convertible-based bodywork lacked the dating pointed, upwardly-raked fintails of the sedan, and aged better.

This 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300SE is a European-market coupe that is said to have been sold new in Germany and subsequently was imported from Greece to Canada by the second owner. In the early 1980s the car was acquired by the third owner, who owned the car for the last 40 years!
Power is provided by a 3.0-liter M189 inline-six equipped with fuel injection and mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The body is finished in cream, and the car is equipped with European-spec headlights, a brown leather interior, and 14″ wheels. This W112 is now offered in Canada with transferable British Columbia registration.
Finished from the factory in white with a weissgrau roof, the pillarless body has been refinished in the current cream color.
A matching spare equipped with a Riken tire is located in the trunk. The car factory fitted with power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes and air suspension.
The cabin is newly re-upholstered in brown leather with a matching dash pad and door panels.
